REQUIREMENTS:
To qualify for Active Membership you must operate a structural steel fabrication shop, steel mill or service center in the United States. AISC is leading an effort to expand the size and effectiveness of the industry promotional and marketing efforts against competitive materials. We hope you choose to join us!

INITIAL DUES – ALL APPLICANTS
An initial dues payment must accompany this application, payable to American Institute of Steel Construction, Inc. Should the application be denied, the initial payment will be refunded in full. The amount of the payment is determined by the month application is made.

MONTHLY TONNAGE DUES – ALL APPLICANTS
All Active Member Fabricators, Plate Steel Producers, and Structural Steel Shape Producers shall pay one dollar and ten cents ($1.10) per ton each month on all Structural Steel shipped by their company and utilized in the construction of steel buildings or bridges (the “Normal Assessment”). In addition,Active Members who are fabricators and NSBA members shall pay an additional ninety cents ($.90) per ton contribution on all shipments of Structural Steel utilized in the fabrication of steel bridges (the “NSBA Special Assessment”). Steel Service Center Members shall pay 15 cents ($0.15) per ton monthly on all wide flange and hollow structural steel sections shipped by their company.
MAXIMUM TONNAGE CONTRIBUTION:
All Active Members: The maximum contribution related to the Normal Assessment of any fabricator, structural steel shape producer or steel service center Active Member of the Institute in any calendar year for structural steel used to construct buildings shall be capped at fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00).
HSS Producers: HSS Producers will pay a Marketing Special Assessment based on a prorated share of $450,000 based on their percentage of the domestic HSS market (that is, a company with a 5% market share will pay a Marketing Special Assessment of $27,500 while a company with a 50% share of the domestic HSS market will pay a Marketing Special Assessment of $225,000).
NSBA Members: Neither the Normal Assessment for structural steel used to construct bridges nor the NSBA Special Assessment are limited by a maximum contribution; and (iv) Active Members who are plate steel producers and NSBA members shall pay an additional ninety cents ($.90) per ton contribution on all shipments of Structural Steel utilized in the fabrication of steel bridges (the “NSBA Special Assessment”). Neither the Normal Assessment for structural steel used to construct bridges nor the NSBA Special Assessment are limited by a maximum contribution.
Mills:
Shape Producers: The Market Breakthrough Assessment shall be made at the rate of $1.10 per ton on all shipments of structural steel shapes, after reaching the maximum Normal Assessment, subject to an overall annual cap for all Active Member steel shapes producers.
Plate Producers: Active Members who are plate steel producers and NSBA members shall pay in January of each year pay an additional annual fee of twenty-four thousand four hundred and fifty dollars ($24,450.00) (NSBA Annual Plate Producers Fee).
