NOTE: If you do not see the question/answer you are looking for below, you can always try to direct them to our website at www.aisc.org/seminars, or forward them to Carol Pivonka at pivonka@aisc.org or 406.652.9787.

Q: How many Continuing Education credits (CEUs/PDHs) do I receive for attending a seminar?
A: AISC Specification/Manual Seminar and AISC Seismic Provisions/Manual Seminar attendees receive 0.80 CEUs/8.0 PDHs per seminar. Seismic Braced Frames - Design Concepts and Connections Seminar attendees receive 0.65 CEUs/6.5 PDHs per seminar.

Q: Will I receive a certificate at the seminar detailing these earned credits?
A: YES

Q: May I register over the phone for the seminars?
A: Unfortunately, we cannot accept registrations for the seminars over the phone. From the Seminar website (www.aisc.org/seminars) you can download the registration form and either fax or mail it in, or to register online  click here.

Q: How will I know what hotel the seminar I'm attending is in?
A: Hotels are confirmed approximately 30 days prior to each seminar. The dates and cities have been confirmed up to one year in advance; for a full listing of dates and cities, please visit www.aisc.org/seminars. When you register for a seminar, you will receive a confirmation notice detailing the name of the hotel if it has been confirmed. If it has not, we ask that you visit the website 30 days before your seminar to confirm hotel name, address, etc.

Q: If I register for the AISC Specification/Manual seminar, when will I receive my manual?
A: If you purchase the 13th Edition Manual and register for the AISC Specification/Manual seminar, you will receive the manual in advance of the seminar. This applies only if you register 45 or more business days in advance of the seminar.

  • April seminars - order must be received by February 1
  • May seminars - order must be received by February 27
  • June seminars - order must be received by March 29
  • August seminars - order must be received by June 2
  • September seminars - order must be received by July 10
  • October seminars - order must be received by August 8

Q: How long will it take for me to receive my manual?
A: You can expect to receive your manual approximately 2-3 weeks after receiving your registration confirmation. Manuals will be available for shipping after February 15th.

Q: What if I register for the AISC Specification/Manual seminar, receive the advance copy of the manual, and then later decide I am not able to attend the seminar? Can I return the manual and receive a rebate?
A: Unfortunately, for this particular seminar, AISC will not rebate the cost for the manual, nor will we accept returned manuals. You can attend the seminar at a different location or send a colleague to attend the originally scheduled seminar in your place.

Q: What is the cancellation policy for other seminars?
A: Substitutions may be made at any time. Cancellations made more than 3 days in advance of the seminar will be refunded in full. Cancellations received 1-3 days prior to the seminar are subject to a $125 service charge. Cancellations and no-shows the day of the seminar will not be refunded. You can cancel by submitting a request in writing to steel@wyndhamjade.com.

Q: Who is speaking at the seminars?
A: Speaker bios and further seminar information is listed online at www.aisc.org/seminars. From the seminar homepage, click on the title of the seminar you are interested in learning more about for further information.

Q: What are the seminars about?
A: Seminar highlights and detailed descriptions about each seminar are listed online at www.aisc.org/seminars. From the seminar homepage, click on the title of the seminar you are interested in learning more about for further information.

Q: Can I use a purchase order to pay for my seminar?
A: No. All registrations must be paid for by check or credit card. AISC accepts Visa, Mastercard and American Express.

Q: I'd like to register now and bring a check on-site. Is that OK?
A: Yes. Registrants who would like to bring a check as payment on-site to the seminar must register either via fax or mail.

Q: I'd like to register now, but perhaps decide to bring a "buddy" at a later date. How can I register the buddy?
A: You may register a buddy at a later date by calling the Registration Department at 800-809-2364.

Q: Can I bring more than one buddy to the seminar?
A: You are only able to bring one buddy. Separate registrations must be made for subsequent attendees.

Q: If I register myself and a buddy for the New AISC Specification/Manual seminar, does the buddy receive the 13th Edition Steel Construction Manual as well?
A: Yes, the buddy will receive all of the handout material.

Q: Do I need to bring the manual to the seminar?
A: It would be very helpful to you to bring the manual, but it is not required.

Q: If I register today for a seminar in four months, when will my credit card be charged?
A: Your credit card will be charged at the time of registration.

Q: Can I pay for the manual now, and the registration fee for an October seminar at a later date?
A: All payments for manual and seminar must be made at the time the registration is processed.

Q: I've recently attended a seminar and would like to give AISC some feedback. Is there a survey available?
A: There are online surveys available at www.aisc.org/seminars for all past seminars. AISC appreciates and encourages feedback in order to continue to help us improve our educational sessions.

Q: How do I know if I am registered for a seminar?
A: You will receive a confirmation by email.

Q: How can I find out if my company has submitted payment and registration form?
A: Call the Registration Department at 800-809-2364.

Q: Can I get a credit card receipt for a seminar?
A: If you are unable to use your confirmation as your credit card receipt, write to Carol Pivonka at pivonka@aisc.org to have a receipt mailed to you.

Q: I am an educator/student and would like to sign up for the seminar and receive a manual. What is the price?
A: Educators and students receive discounts on the manual through AISC's University Relations Dept. If they wish to attend the seminar with the manual, they must register at the regular price, i.e., $395.

Q: I am a member of SEI - or a member of ASCE. Can I receive the AISC member price and if so, do I need to enter my ASCE or SEI member number to register?
A: Yes, you may register at the AISC member price if you are a member of either ASCE or SEI. You do need to enter your ASCE or SEI member number into the AISC member number area and the registration program will recognize it as being from an eligible organization.

Q: Is there a fee for name changes for seminars and when is the last day for name changes?
A: There is no fee for substitutions and they can be made as late as the day of the seminar.

Q: Does AISC make transportation arrangements, or am I responsible for booking a flight, renting a car on my own?
A: AISC does not use a travel agent, nor do we have a preferred transportation vendor. Please make all travel arrangements on your own.

Q: What are the onsite hours for registration?
A: Registration begins 30 minutes before the seminar.

Q: What if my buddy is not an AISC member and I am? Does the buddy still get to come for the reduced fee?
A: Yes - as long as the main registration is an AISC/SEI/CASE member and registers at member price, he/she can bring a buddy at the reduced rate independent of the membership status of the buddy.
