13th Edition Steel Construction Manual

This Manual is available to students through professors for the price of $120. (Retail price is $175/member or $350/non-member)

This Manual is the thirteenth major update of the AISC Steel Construction Manual, which was first published in 1927. With this revision, the previously separate Allowable Stress Design and Load and Resistance Factor Design methods have been combined. Thus, this Manual replaces both the 9th Edition ASD Manual and the 3rd Edition LRFD Manual. Much of the HSS Connections Manual has also been incorporated and updated in this Manual.

The following specifications, codes and standards are printed in Part 16 of this Manual:

2005 AISC Specification for Structural Steel Buildings
2004 RCSC Specification for Structural Joints Using ASTM A325 or A490 Bolts
2005 AISC Code of Standard Practice for Steel Buildings and Bridges

AISC Seismic Design Manual  

This Manual is available to students for the price of $120. (Retail price is $175/member or $350/non-member)

AISC has developed a new Seismic Design Manual, available in the Spring of 2006. This six-part manual will include sections on general design considerations; design of systems utilizing R = 3 (braced and moment frames); design of braced-frame systems utilizing R > 3; design of moment frame systems utilizing R > 3; and design of other systems utilizing R > 3. The AISC Seismic Design Manual also includes printed versions of ANSI/AISC 341-05 and ANSI/AISC 358-05.


Modern Steel Construction Magazine


This highly authoritative monthly magazine is made available for free to civil engineering and architectural students taking steel design courses. Fifteen (15) copies of seven (7) issues of Modern Steel Construction are sent to all Civil Engineering Departments in the country as well as all schools of architecture. This magazine covers the use of fabricated structural steel in the full range of structural types, though it primarily focuses on buildings and bridges. It presents in-depth information on the newest and most advanced applications of structural steel in a wide range of structural types.

Engineering Journal


Engineering Journal is the only technical journal in the United States devoted exclusively to the design of steel structures. It provides educators with the latest information on steel research, design and construction. The journal, a quarterly AISC publication, is mailed free of charge to over 1000 structural educators.
