The 2005 AISC and 2007 AASHTO provisions for flexural design of steel I-section members have been revised in their entirety relative to previous specifications to simplify their logic, organization, and application, simultaneously improving their accuracy and generality. This paper provides an overview of these comprehensive developments. Topics of interest include: web slenderness, single-symmetry, horizontal curvature, variable web depth, member versus system performance, education, and research.

The seminar is presented by Donald W. White of the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA.

This seminar was developed as part of the 2009 North American Steel Construction Conference. Upon completion of the seminar, the attendee will be able to purchase an online quiz based on information given in the seminar.
