Steel Bridge Design Handbook

The original Highway Structures DesignHandbook was produced by US Steel in the 1970s. The project was subsequently taken over by AISC Marketing. Now, with federal grant money, FHWA and NSBA with HDR Engineering, Pittsburgh, PA as the Principal Engineer, has completed the much-needed updating of this important industry document. This newly completed document encompass 19 volumes and six design examples. The volumes have all beenwritten by prominent engineers in the field and reviewed by a committee organized by NSBA. Comments were compiled by NSBA, returned to the authors for revisions, and then finalized by FHWA/NSBA.

All volumes and design Examples of the renamed Steel Bridge Design Handbook listed below are now available to download.

Volumes and design examples are current with the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, Fifth Edition, US units. The user should be aware that upgrades to the Design Handbook volumes or design examples may be undertaken with the release of a new edition of the specification. Be aware of any changes that may take place subsequent to the 5th edition and make the appropriate changes or modifications to procedures to accommodate said changes.
