Third Public Review of the 2005 AISC Seismic Provisions
Review Period Ends January 3, 2005

November 23, 2004 From American Institute of Steel Construction, Inc.

(The Deadline for this has past)

The AISC 2005 Seismic Provisions for Structural Steel Buildings is now available for a limited third public review. This is a revision of the 2002 version of the AISC document under the same name. These provisions are intended for the design and construction of structural steel members and connections in the Seismic Load Resisting Systems in buildings and other structures. Among the major changes in the updated 2005 edition will be the incorporation of the Allowable Stress Design and Load and Resistance Factor Design methods into one document. Additionally, two new seismic systems will be incorporated: buckling-restrained braced frames and special plate shear walls.

The draft specification is available for your review by visiting www.aisc.org/2005SEISMICPR3 (The Deadline for this has past) and a public review form can be accessed by visiting www.aisc.org/PR3FORMSeismic (The Deadline for this has past).

Please submit comments on only the newly revised text, as indicated in the draft document and on the ballot form.

Please submit your comments electronically to [email protected] using the public review form, or mail to Cynthia Duncan, AISC, Suite 3100, 1 East Wacker Drive, Chicago, IL 60601-2000 by January 3, 2005.
