MAGAZINE

Modern Steel Construction MagazineModern Steel Construction

Focusing on innovative and cost-effective steel designs and applications, AISC's monthly magazine, Modern Steel Construction, provides in-depth information on the newest and most advanced uses of structural steel in buildings around the country.

AWARDS

CityParkIDEAS² Awards

The Innovative Design in Engineering and Architecture with Structural Steel (IDEAS²) Award program recognizes projects that illustrate the exciting possibilities of building with structural steel.

Since 1960, AISC’s award programs have celebrated landmark structures built to stand the test of time.

INNOVATION

Design Guide 38Design Structures for Lightning-Fast Construction

Design Guide 38, SpeedCore Systems for Steel Structures, is your must-have manual for the concrete-filled composite plate shear wall system that can shave months off an erection schedule.

COLLABORATION

Design Assist GuideDesign Assist Guidelines

AISC and AIA Contract Documents published resources that define three common collaboration strategies--informal involvement, design assist, and delegated design--and the roles and responsibilities of all involved parties.

DESIGN GUIDES

Design Guide 37Need Speed? Pair Structural Steel with Timber Floors

Mix and match for maximum effect. Build a structural steel frame and drop in cross-laminated timber panels.

AISC's Design Guide 37, Hybrid Steel Frames with Wood Floors gives you the latest information to make these innovative structures a reality. The design guide is a multi-disciplinary review of the considerations that impact the structural design of hybrid steel-framed structures with mass-timber floors, including fire, acoustics, and sustainability.

SUSTAINABILITY

SustainabilityStructural Steel: The Green Choice

All structural hot-rolled sections produced in the U.S. are made in electric arc furnaces. This technology uses electricity to melt cars, refrigerators, and other scrap into new steel without any quality loss.

Each structural steel member is at least 93% recycled and 100% recyclable. Instead of going to the landfill or an incinerator, decommissioned buildings go right back into the supply chain to become steel again and again.
