TGRWA provided the structural design and working drawings for the LondonHouse Chicago hotel, located at 360 N. Michigan Avenue. The project included the renovation of the existing building and design of a new 22-story steel framed structure. The renovation converted the City of Chicago's landmarked 280,000-square-foot London Accident & Guarantee Building, originally constructed in 1923, into a modern hotel. A fully-attached addition provided another 70,000 square feet for sleeping rooms, amenities and mechanical space. Due to the small addition footprint, demanding program requirements, and the unique shape of the structure, TGRWA encountered and solved several unique structural challenges for this project.
