He received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Washington State University and Master of Science in Civil Engineering and Philosophiae Doctor from the University of Notre Dame. Brian also mentors MKA's Performance-Based Seismic Design Technical Specialist Team, focused on advancing building performance and developing and improving seismic design methodologies. With his portfolio of more than 17 million square feet of performance-based seismic design projects around the world, Brian often takes the lead for projects in areas of high seismicity. Currently, Brian is the Project Manager on Rainier Square Redevelopment in Seattle--a project using an innovative, cutting-edge composite steel frame. The revolutionary new "sandwich panel system" uses a steel/concrete composite core wall to shave months off the construction schedule and reduce costs, compared to a traditional concrete core system.
