Joseph S. Schuster, SE, PE, is a practicing structural engineer licensed in New York, New Jersey, and Illinois. He holds a BS in civil engineering from Cornell University and an MS in structural engineering from Stanford University. Mr. Schuster is a Vice President at Thornton Tomasetti’s Newark office, where his practice focuses on the renovation of historic buildings and the forensic investigations of failed structures. He has lectured at Rutgers University on structural forensics and has presented to the New Jersey State Bar Association on best practices for attorneys working with engineering experts. Mr. Schuster is a co-author of AISC Design Guide 15, Rehabilitation and Retrofit, 2nd Edition and the SE Structural Engineering Buildings Practice Exam for engineers preparing to take the NCEES SE Exam.
