Judy Liu is the Glenn Willis Holcomb Professor in Structural Engineering in the School of Civil and Construction Engineering at Oregon State University. She holds a Bachelors of Architectural Engineering (BAE) from the Pennsylvania State University and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley. Dr. Liu teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in behavior and design of steel structures. Her awards for teaching and advising include the Ross Judson Buck Outstanding Counselor Award (2015) and the Edmund M. Burke Outstanding Faculty Member (awarded by members of Chi Epsilon, 2011). Dr. Liu has research interests in steel structures, connections, seismic design, and disproportionate collapse mitigation. She was awarded an AISC Milek Fellowship for research on steel slit panels for lateral resistance. Dr. Liu’s committee work includes the ASCE/SEI Disproportionate Collapse Mitigation Standard Committee, AISC Task Committee 4 on Members, and AISC Committee on Specifications.  She co-chairs the NCSEA Basic Education Committee and chairs AISC Partners in Education. She also serves as Research Editor for the AISC Engineering Journal. In 2013, she was honored with an AISC Special Achievement Award for her contributions to the Partners in Education Committee and other efforts to improve structural steel education.
