25 Years of North American Retractable Roofs [N12]

Since the opening of the Rogers Centre (then SkyDome) roof in 1989, retractable roofs have proven to be valuable assets for covered stadium facilities throughout North America. This session will examine the origins of North American retractable roofs at Toronto's Rogers Centre and Montreal's Olympic Stadium, and review the evolution of operable roof technology through a variety of completed projects. Coming full circle, the session will conclude with a recent study of the condition of the Rogers Centre roof and associated mechanization modernization project.
