AISC Research: Sloped Connections and Connections with Fillet Welded Continuity Plates for Seismic Applications [E31a]

Four full-scale RBS connections were tested at UC San Diego to enhance performance and to permit improved economy of moment frame construction for seismic applications. Two of these tests were conducted to confirm a proposed design procedure for fillet-welded continuity plates. The other two tests were conducted to confirm best practices for design of welded connections of sloped beams to columns. Dr Uang will discuss the tests and the lessons learned.
