Inelastic Behavior and Design: New Opportunities [N16A]

In the latest edition of AISC 360-10, Appendix 1 - Design by Inelastic Analysis is fully revised and now provides significantly more opportunities for engineers. Many of the potential benefits of sophisticated inelastic analysis methods, which go well beyond those of traditional plastic design, may now be realized. An overview and examples of these provisions will be presented, as well as implications for future design.
