Non-Destructive Examination and Special Inspection of Seismic Welding

This presentation is designed to be an introduction and review of the available and recommended nondestructive examination methods available to help ensure the quality of structural steel buildings. It shows how each method is used and when each method is appropriate. The relative costs, limitations and accuracies of each method are discussed. The second aspect of the session deals with "special inspection" on high-seismic structural steel projects. The application of the AWS D1.8 Structural Welding Code-Seismic Supplement, as well as what it means to the fabricator and erector in terms of additional "in-house" shop quality control and field inspection procedures, is presented. Special considerations for AISC certified fabricators are discussed.

This course is based on a past NASCC session.

You must purchase and pass a quiz to receive a PDH certificate for this course.
