Seismic Behavior and Design of Multi-tier Concentrically Braced Frames [N7A]

Multi-tier braced frames are used in many types of construction in all seismic regions, but their seismic response is not well understood. Current research is investigating inelastic behavior of multi-tier braced frames to develop an appropriate design procedure. This session will summarize the ongoing research with emphasis on frame behavior, brace ductility demands, effect of in-plane column rotation on out-of-plane column strength, and the proposed design procedure.
