SteelDay 2014: Resilient - You Can't Even Spell It Without Steel

This lecture explores resilience characteristics of steel buildings under threats such as wind, earthquake, fire, and blast. It examines the normal practices in the design and construction of steel buildings that create natural, inherent-and free-resilience. It also explores basic enhancements that can be made when a higher level of general resilience is desired. Finally, performance-based design strategies for resilience in response to specific hazards and threats are discussed.

This course is based on a past AISC Live Webinar.
