The Forge Prize: 2020/2021 Award Recipient Design Presentations

The Forge Prize is a design competition that was established by The American Institute of Steel Construction in 2018. It recognizes visionary emerging architects for designs that embrace steel as a primary structural component and capitalize on steel’s ability to increase a project’s speed. Winners of the 2020 and 2021 competitions will present their innovative concepts.

This course is based on a past NASCC session.

You must pass the quiz to receive a PDH certificate for this course.

This course is available for AIA credit.

 Learning Objectives

  1. Evaluate solutions that will enhance end-user experiences through the use of strategically placed structural steel members integrated into the design program to create functional, safe, and healthy environments.

  2. Analyze external conditionals, such as market availability and transportation mechanisms, that have an impact on material selection as it relates to achieving intended design outcomes.

  3. Define and implement strategies that minimize material waste to improve environmental stewardship in the practice of design.

  4. Evaluate the role of emerging architects and designers in providing equitable, safe, and accessible architecture to diverse populations.
