Lateral Load Transfer – From Diaphragms to Resisting Elements
This two-part webinar will examine how loads flow through diaphragms and horizontal trusses to the vertical elements of the lateral force-resisting system. Using examples from real projects, the presentations will address the challenges that arise when connecting steel framing to various types of lateral systems. Drawing from the speaker’s extensive experience with major building projects, the webinar will include some monumental case studies you won’t want to miss!
Session 1 – Diaphragm Components and Connection to Resisting Elements (8/26/2021)
The first session of this two-part webinar will begin with a review of diaphragms and their components. We’ll cover the ASCE 7 provisions pertaining to diaphragms and examine several case studies that focus on effective detailing solutions.
Session 2 – Horizontal Truss Diaphragms (9/2/2021)
The second session in this two-part webinar will focus on horizontal truss diaphragms, with discussions on truss layout and connection considerations. We’ll review the AISC 341 provisions pertaining to horizontal truss diaphragms and present case studies that demonstrate how to analyze the lateral load path.
