Principles and Practice in Seismic Design

Join us for an essential review of seismic design of structural steel buildings, from the development and codification of the basic concepts to their implementation in practice.

This presentation will review important provisions of ASCE 7 and AISC 341, the fundamentals of capacity design, and the ductile behavior of various seismic force-resisting systems. Several real structures will be presented to demonstrate the concepts. Finally, the concept of performance-based seismic design will be discussed.
