Your Next Project Considering Steel & Timber Research for Residential Buildings

The live stream is now complete. We apologize for all technical difficulties. Please check back on November 27 to view a recording and download an electronic copy of the research report.

Mid-and high-rise residential buildings represent a significant portion of the building market. The design and engineering of these buildings has unique constraints not found in offices or other commercial construction. Structural steel frames have many benefits which can complement residential construction such as prefabrication and speed of construction. These characteristics are similar to emerging technologies such as cross-laminated timber.

The American Institute of Steel Construction and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP have partnered to study the combination of these materials as they relate to the challenges of residential construction. This online forum will cover the motivations of the research and framing concepts for residential construction.
