2018 National Finals

Congratulations to all teams that participated in the
2018 Regional Events & National Finals.

The Student Steel Bridge Competition - 2018 National Finals was held on May 25 & 26 and was hosted by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. This year marked the 27th National Finals and the 32nd year of the Student Steel Bridge Competition. This prestigious competition offers future structural engineers the opportunity to display their skills in steel design, steel fabrication, and teamwork. Forty-two student teams participated in the 2018 National Finals.

Two new special awards were introduced at the 2018 National Finals:

Robert E. Shaw, Jr. Spirit of the Competition Award - Congratulations to the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez!
This award was presented to a team that demonstrated outstanding team camaraderie, professionalism, positive work ethic, and respect for their competition peers.

Frank J. Hatfield Ingenuity Award - Congratulations to the University of Texas, San Antonio!
This award was presented to a team that showed the most engineering ingenuity in the design and construction of their bridge based on the requirements of the competition rules.
