SJI to Host Joist Webinar Wednesday

The Steel Joist Institute (SJI) is hosting its first webinar of the year this Wednesday, February 18, titled “Design of Lateral Load Resisting Systems Using Open Web Steel Joists.” The webinar will be held from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. EST.

Intended for structural engineers and engineering managers or supervisors, this webinar will highlight key points when using open web steel joists and joist girders in lateral load resisting systems for wind and seismic loads. Presenters will explore commonly used details to transfer loads in and out of open web steel joists and joist girders, as well as share methods to define and present the required lateral loads. Participants can also earn 0.15 CEUs or 1.5 PDHs.

The webinar is based on SJI’s Technical Digest No. 11, Design of Lateral Load Resisting Frames Using Steel Joists and Joist Girders, which illustrates procedures for the structural engineer to properly analyze, design and specify open web steel joist and joist girder moment frames to resist wind and seismic lateral loads.

Individual and site registration for the webinar is available online at http://steeljoist.org/febwebinar and will be open until tomorrow night at 11:59 p.m. EST. Individual registration cost is $75 and each person who registers will receive their own link to the webinar. Site registration also is available for $300, allowing up to five attendees from the same company to use one link to the webinar.
