The Steel Erectors Association of America (SEAA) has named Carrie Sopuch-Gulajan, president of Construction Insurance Agency, Inc., Manassas, Va., Person of the Year in recognition of her service to the steel construction industry and SEAA. Sopuch-Gulajan is the first female to receive the award in its 11-year history.
Sopuch-Gulajan has worked in the construction industry since the 1990s, first in the engineering department of a major insurance carrier, next in safety and risk management for a steel erection company and then returning to the insurance business as an agent. She was appointed to the SEAA Board of Directors in 2011 and has served as the Convention Committee Chairperson since last year. One of her first projects for the association involved working with the safety committee to draft and edit safety and training manuals.
