Steel Tube Institute Appoints New Executive Director

Joseph Anderson

The Steel Tube Institute (STI) has announced the appointment of Joseph Anderson to Executive Director following the retirement of Bill Wolfe, who served 13 years in the position. Anderson was named the association’s Hollow Structural Sections (HSS) Director last April.

Wolfe leaves behind a legacy of dramatic growth for STI, strengthening the network of steel tubular product manufacturers dedicated to moving the industry forward through innovation and awareness. Wolfe placed major emphasis on safety in the steel industry during his tenure, creating and broadening the organization’s Safety Committee as a venue where members and non-members could come together to learn and share best practices.

“After working in steel as long as I have, I really can’t think of any place I’d rather be than serving the industry at STI,” reflects Wolfe. “It has been an honor and a pleasure and I thank all the members of STI for their support over the years. I know Joseph will continue to do great things, so please join me in welcoming him to his new role.”

Anderson will be stepping into the Executive Director position after leading STI’s HSS Committee. His presentation at the recent STI Spring Meeting stressed the importance of continuing to innovate manufacturing practices and raise awareness of the benefits that come with steel tubular products. Anderson has held management roles in the steel industry for more than 30 years throughout the distribution channel.

“Bill leaves behind him a tremendous legacy,” praised Anderson. “I am very excited to continue driving innovation and value for all the members of STI who come together to help propel our industry to the next level. On a personal note, I want to thank Bill for all his support over the last months in passing the torch to me.”

Anderson studied Business Management at Brigham Young University and has completed both the Dale Carnegie Human Relations Course and the Dale Carnegie Sales Course. Later in his career, he also completed the Executive Management Course through the American Management Association. He has been a Marketing Committee Member of AISC since 2004 and a Member of the Metal Service Institute through PDM Steel Service Centers since 1980.
