Steel Sculpture Competition Now Accepting Entries

The winner of this year's Steel Sculpture Competition was “Man of Steel,” designed and fabricated by Victor Velazquez, an employee with Universal Steel of North Carolina (an AISC member and certified fabricator).

AISC invites you to show the world your creativity — and at the same time win lunch for your staff and national acclaim for your firm! If you’re an AISC full or associate member, enter your original, innovative steel sculpture in this year’s Steel Sculpture Competition by Friday, August 25.

The rules are simple: artworks must be made solely from steel, made entirely by the entering firm's staff, and sized to fit in a 2-ft by 2-ft by 2-ft box for shipping purposes. Photos of all entries will be posted to the AISC Facebook page from September 5 through 8, where visitors can vote for their favorites. Finalists will be displayed at the 2018 NASCC: The Steel Conference in Baltimore, Md. (April 11-13). The winning sculpture will be featured in MSC and on AISC's Facebook and Twitter pages. The winning firm will receive a catered lunch for their staff (up to a $500 value!).

More information about the competition and how to enter can be found here. The competition is part of SteelDay, the structural steel industry’s largest educational and networking event. It’s scheduled for September 15 this year, so mark your calendars! Events are held nationwide. To host or attend an event, visit www.steelday.org.
