SJI Offers Wind Design Webinar April 19

The Steel Joist Institute (SJI) is offering its Wind Design Considerations for Joists and Joist Girders webinar again on Wednesday, April 19, from 3 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. (ET), followed by a 15-minute question and answer session; it was also offered earlier this month.

The webinar provides a comprehensive review of wind forces on steel joist and joist girder roof systems. Areas of emphasis include wind load determination, combinations and application. The webinar will focus primarily on specification of, analysis of and design for resisting uplift loads and will also look at load paths and connections for wind moment frames, collectors and braces.

Learning objectives include reviewing the appropriate load combinations involving wind and the appropriate load paths for wind forces. The presenters will also provide tips on connection details for transferring wind forces as well as details on two new developments affecting wind design.

Registration for individuals and groups is available at steeljoist.org/aprilwebinar.
