It's Throwback Thursday and we're throwing it back to the 2008 NASCC: The Steel Conference in Nashville, Tenn. During this conference, Robert McNamara, who was with McNamara - Salvia Structural Engineers at the time, presented an insightful session called "Designing with Damping."

Click here to check out the recording of McNamara's presentation as he provides an introduction to the concepts of design approaches that incorporate structural damping as an important tool for structural problems. During this presentation, he explores both wind and seismic applications along with specialized applications such as uses in local vibration control, applications to flexible structures, and damage control design for seismic applications.
