The American Galvanizers Association (AGA) recently announced the winners of its 2020 Excellence in Hot-Dip Galvanizing Awards. A panel of architects and engineers judged more than 115 projects representing a variety of applications of hot-dip galvanizing.
One of the winners is the Living Bridge project (pictured), an interdisciplinary smart infrastructure research project, converting the Memorial Bridge into a demonstration "smart bridge." The bridge, which links Portsmouth, N.H., to Kittery, Maine, over the Piscataqua River has been outfitted with data sensors that have transformed it into a self-diagnosing, self-reporting smart bridge that captures a range of information from the health of the span to the environment around it.
