Raebel spent 12 years practicing at firms that specialize in commercial, residential, and industrial structural design before switching over to academia. He served as chair of the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering and Construction Management at Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), where he was also director of the Architectural Engineering Program. He succeeds Larry Kruth at AISC; Kruth is retiring at the end of the year.
