Dogwood Road Bridge Replacement Project Jigsaw Puzzle Dogwood Road Bridge Replacement Project A southern California county recently replaced a deteriorated three-span concrete bridge with a new single-span prefabricated steel structure--and won a 2024 ASCE San Diego Outstanding Structural Engineering Project Award! Coordinated by the Imperial County Public Works Department, the Dogwood Road Bridge replacement project introduced California's first continuous steel tub girder bridge, a bridge type known for its aesthetic appeal and structural advantages. The ASCE San Diego Section highlighted this project as a model for future infrastructure initiatives in the region.
