Students Connecting with Industry Sessions (SCIS)
t Students Connecting with Industry Sessions (SCIS) on Thursday, April 12 at The Steel Conference, students will have the opportunity to hear career insights from distinguished construction industry and design professionals, connect and interact with leading industry experts, and mingle with other like-minded students. SCIS is organized in cooperation with SE Solutions.
For attending SCIS, AISC Student Members are eligible for free registration which includes the following:
- All Technical Sessions (Wednesday through Friday)
- Entrance to the Exhibit Hall (Wednesday through Friday)
- Exhibit Hall Coffee Breaks
- Wednesday Welcome Lunch
- A complimentary ticket to Thursday night's Conference Dinner (you'll receive this at the end of Direct Connect)
- Thursday and Friday lunch are not included and must be purchased separately.
- Up to $175 in travel assistance from AISC. (see the Travel Reimbursement policies below)

Students will have the opportunity to hear career insights and important lessons learned from two distinguished construction industry and design professionals. This two-part session will provide upcoming graduates with unique perspectives on the professional world that they are about to enter.

Direct Connect | Thursday, April 12, 2018
1:30 p.m.-2:45 p.m.
Ever wish you could grab a cup of coffee with the top designers of the leading structural engineering firms? At this event, students will have the opportunity to connect and interact with leading industry experts from design and construction companies around North America in a relaxed setting. While most firms at this event may not be hiring, this is a great opportunity to meet significant designers and make key contacts at major firms.
AISC student members who attend the SCIS program will be eligible to receive up to a $175 reimbursement.
While at SCIS, you will receive an expense form to log your hotel, travel and meal costs. You must either attend the morning or afternoon sessions to receive an expense form at the end of Direct Connect. Receipts are required for reimbursement.
Complete the form with your expense information and submit the form with copies of all of your receipts. Approximately, 4-6 weeks following the conference, upon approval by AISC, you will receive a check. View our expense guidelines for the complete list of what's included.
