Brandon Chavel is the Director of Market Development for the National Steel Bridge Alliance (NSBA), a division of the American Institute of Steel Construction. Brandon's primary role with NSBA is mentoring key nationwide contacts and guiding our field staff who market to decision makers on the benefits of structural steel for bridges. He also dedicates time to providing technical assistance, tools, and resources for steel bridges to bridge owners, designers, fabricators, and technical committees. Brandon is responsible for expanding AISC's to provide conceptual solutions, technical assistance, and tools to the structural steel bridge design industry.
Prior to joining the NSBA, Brandon spent 17 years in the bridge consulting profession with HDR, Inc. as a senior bridge engineer and bridge section manager in Cleveland. His extensive steel bridge design experience includes refined analysis, skewed and curved bridge analysis and design, erection and construction engineering, rehabilitation and repair design, load rating, and research in the areas of analysis and construction of horizontally curved steel girder bridges. Brandon earned his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.
