Safety Alert: Equipment Recalls and OSHA Training Fraud

August 9, 2019

Two manufacturers are recalling safety products, and OSHA has issued a warning about increased fraudulent activity related to training courses.

3M Fall Protection has issued an immediate stop use and product recall for its DBI-SALA Twin-Leg Nano-Lok Edge and Twin-Leg Nano-Lok Wrap Back Self Retracting Lifeline products. "3M has determined that in a fall and under certain conditions, the energy absorber of these devices may not properly deploy which could expose the worker to serious injury or death," the company said in the notice.

3M asks that people immediately stop using these devices and remove them from service. Additional information is available at www.nanolokedgerecall.com/.

Safe Approach has issued a stop and inspect notice for Part #9070, which is an SRL web link connector. Some devices may open when only one detent pin is depressed, instead of only opening when both detent pins are depressed simultaneously.

More information is available here.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has issued a warning about fraudulent Outreach Training Program trainers and courses. More information is available from the agency's website.
