Innovative applications of composite steel and concrete structures provide attractive alternatives to conventional steel or reinforced concrete systems. Over the past two decades, much has been learned about the seismic design, behavior and construction of composite structures consisting of steel beams and reinforced concrete (or composite) columns. This presentation examines these systems and show case study results and design guideline developments conducted over 20 years, with emphasis on recent research that involves testing and nonlinear analysis of full-scale composite frames.
