The California & Vicinity Steel Information Council (CVSIC) offers an array of programs, some of which are exclusively available to full-time faculty and students who teach at or attend schools in Arizona, California or Nevada. The following programs are being offered to faculty and students beginning June 2017 through May 2018.

Complimentary AISC Seismic Design Manuals

For a limited time, students who purchase an AISC Steel Construction Manual through the Student Manual Discount Program can apply to receive one free AISC Seismic Design Manual, compliments of the CVSIC. Travel Funding to attend NASCC: The Steel Conference

Five full-time students enrolled in or teaching at schools in Arizona, California or Nevada will be selected to receive up to $500 in travel reimbursement to attend the 2018 NASCC: The Steel Conference in Baltimore, MD. Students and faculty must be one of the first to register for The Steel Conference online.  

Eligible students must:

  • be a full-time university level student attending a school located in AZ, CA, or NV at the time of The Steel Conference (April 11-13, 2018) 
  • be one of the first five students from these states to register online for the 2018 NASCC: The Steel Conference with the exception that preference will be given to students who have not received travel assistance from CVSIC previously
  • attend the Students Connecting with Industry Sessions (SCIS) student program taking place from 11:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. on Thursday, April 12
  • submit a travel expense reimbursement form and receipts after the conference—reciepts are required for reimbursement

Bonus: For attending SCIS, students also will be eligible for a free lunch on Thursday, a complimentary ticket to Thursday night's Conference Dinner, and up to an additional $175 in travel assistance from AISC!

Monetary Support for Student Steel Bridge Teams

Student teams from schools in Arizona, California and Nevada that participate in the Student Steel Bridge Competition at the regional (or conference) level can receive $150 in funding, provided by the CVSIC.
