The Steel Joist Institute is hosting its final webinar of the year, titled “Bridging for Open Web Steel Joists.” It is being offered twice this fall: Thursday, October 16, 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. (ET) and Thursday, November 13, 1 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. (ET).

The webinar will explore all aspects of bridging - an integral part of any steel joist system - from the underlying theory to installation details. It will serve as a preview of the soon-to-be released SJI Technical Digest No. 2, which highlights changes to specification requirements for bridging and new research on the role it plays in bracing steel joists.

Individual and site registration is available online. Register at www.steeljoist.org/octwebinar for the October webinar or www.steeljoist.org/novwebinar for the November webinar. Individual registration cost is $75.00 and each person who registers will receive his or her own link to the webinar and earn 0.15 CEUs, 1.5 PDHs or 1.5 LUs. Site registration also is available for $300.00, allowing multiple attendees from the same company to use one link to the webinar.

The webinar will be presented by Ronald D. Ziemian, Ph.D., P.E., a professor of civil and environmental engineering at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa. A member of AISC, American Iron and Steel Institute, and the Aluminum Association’s Specification Committee, Ziemian is a published author and editor. He received AISC’s Special Achievement Award in 2006 for the innovative development of programs of advanced structural analysis and his key role in the use of the program in the development of the 2005 AISC Specification provisions for stability analysis and design of structures.
