Steel Structure Trivia: Pop of Color

This 50-ton, 53-ft-tall steel sculpture has been standing on public display since 1974. Its abstract form and distinct vermillion color contrasts with the angular, structural steel and glass office buildings in the urban square it lives in. (Photo: AISC)

Our July Steel Structure Trivia question is twofold: What is a) the name of this sculpture and b) where is it located?

Answer:

The sculpture’s name is Flamingo. Created by noted American artist Alexander Calder, it is located in Federal Plaza in downtown Chicago. Congratulations to our sole winner: Justin Franklin, digital marketing manager at Response Labs in Baltimore!

You can test your steel structure knowledge right here on our MSC website on the last Friday of each month, where a new trivia question will be posted to the News section. Our next question will be posted on Friday, August 28 at noon CDT.
