Alro Steel Opens New Facility in Tulsa, Okla.

Inside Alro Steel's new Tulsa, Okla. facility.

AISC-member Alro Steel has opened an 80,000-sq.-ft service center facility in Tulsa, Okla. The building replaces a 9,000-sq.-ft facility that Alro operated in Tulsa since 1999. The larger footprint will allow Alro to process additional grades and sizes of steel.

Alro Steel is a distributor of metals, industrial supplies and plastics. Founded in 1948 by brothers Al and Robert Glick, the company began in a small garage in Jackson, Mich. Its name was derived from the first two letters from Al and Robert. Al began the company during the steel shortage in the 1940s caused by the demands of World War II, finding a niche matching companies in need of steel to companies with excess steel. Today, Alro has grown to over 60 locations in 12 states.
