The Steel Joist Institute (SJI) is offering a webinar, “Diaphragm Design That Makes Sense: How to Design and Specify Steel Deck by Representatives of the SDI” next Wednesday, June 21, from 3 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. (ET), followed by a 15-minute Q&A session.
Diaphragm connection design has become more complicated and time consuming due to recent changes in design codes and construction practices, according to SJI. This webinar will identify those changes, provide design guidance, review upcoming publications and introduce new design tools by the Steel Deck Institute (SDI).
Attendees will learn about recognizing appropriate American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) and SDI standards and literature, and understanding the limits of existing shear tables and evaluation reports. Additional learning objectives include design procedures for uniquely shaped and sloped structures, as well as design procedures and shear capacities over cold-formed steel framing.
