AISC is joining the mission to conserve energy consumption by participating in Daylight Hour tomorrow, June 22. Since 2014, the annual social media campaign, organized by the Building Energy Exchange, asks organizations to turn off non-critical lights in daylit spaces from noon until 1 p.m. local time on the Friday nearest the summer solstice.
Over the past 30 years, the steel industry has significantly reduced greenhouse gas and overall emissions. As a sustainably-focused organization, participating in Daylight Hour is a significant way we (and our members) diminish greenhouse gases and be more environmentally conscious.
Participating AISC members include: Arcadis, Arup, BuroHappold Engineering, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP and Thornton Tomasetti.
On Friday, 613 offices across the the world will be joining Daylight Hour to save 195 MWH or 195,000,000 watts.
