AGA Excellence Awards Winners Announced

53 West 53rd MoMA Tower in New York City | AGA 2019 Excellence in Hot-Dip Galvanizing Award Winner

The American Galvanizers Association (AGA) recently recognized 17 projects across 15 categories as 2019 Excellence in Hot-Dip Galvanizing Award winners. After deciding between nearly 100 versatile bridges, buildings, and sculptures, the jury chose the winners based on durability, longevity, and sustainability of the hot-dip galvanized coating. This year, the winners highlighted the need for strength and longevity of hot-dip galvanized steel in the construction market.

One of this year's winning projects was 53 West 53rd MoMA Tower in New York City. Fabricated by Orange County Iron Works (an AISC Full Member), the project won an award in the "Building and Architecture" category. This midtown masterpiece houses exhibits from the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) on its first three floors and offers a variety of luxury homes on the other floors.
