SEAA Announces Speakers, Agenda for 2021 Convention

The Steel Erectors Association of America (SEAA) has announced the lineup for its 48th Convention and Trade Show, which will feature education sessions, a trade show with live exhibitor demonstrations, a golf tournament, and more. The convention will take place Oct. 12-14 in Orlando, Fla.

Kicking off the event on Tuesday, Oct. 12 is the Dave Schulz Memorial Golf Tournament. This annual event was renamed in 2021 in honor of former SEAA President Dave Schulz, who was passionate about safety and played a major role in organizing the tournament for several years. To this day, the tournament has raised more than $40,000 for safety, training, and education projects.

On Wednesday, Oct. 13, there will be a panel discussion featuring the teams who won the 2021 Project of the Year. Moderating the panel discussion is former SEAA President Bob Beckner. “We’ll explore common themes and best practices that other erectors may apply to planning, logistics, safety, and other challenges,” Beckner said of the panel discussion. An awards ceremony and convention welcome session will follow.

Thursday, Oct. 14, the final day of the event, features an interactive trade show with both indoor and outdoor exhibitor displays and live demos from Genie, LeJeune Bolt Company, SDS2, Simpson Strong-Tie, and Skyjack. Following the trade show are three education sessions on topics related to management. This year’s sessions are:

  • Managing AISC Certifications Systems, presented by Lee Pieleat of Pioneer Steel Services
  • Overcoming Complex Support Conditions, presented by James Byrum, Estimator and Project Manager for Peterson Beckner Industries
  • The Maverick Foreman: Defending OSHA Citations Involving Supervisor Misconduct, presented by Stephen Safran of Safran Law Offices
