The Ragon Institute of Mass General, MIT, and Harvard isn’t open quite yet, but its monumental stair is already a signature focal point of the new research center.
Given its triangular helix geometry, plus its base being situated on structural steel framing rather than a slab on grade, the stair posed several structural challenges for the design team.
