Cold-Formed Steel Corrugated Sheet Shear Wall with Special Energy Dissipation Bracing

The paper presents an efficient method to improve the ductility of the corrugated sheet sheathed cold-formed steel (CFS) framed shear walls by installing a special energy dissipation bracing (EDB). The EDB can be tuned according to the CFS shear wall's characteristics to achieve the highest post-peak deflection capacity, therefore the seismic ductility could be significantly improved. To prove the concept and analyze the feasibility of the new EDB, a test program of total 9 full-scale shear walls was conducted. The experimental results showed that with the tuned EDB, the corrugated steel sheet sheathed shear walls demonstrated an improved ductility with no considerable reduction in the initial stiffness and shear strength. Details of the test program and discussion are presented in this paper.
