Demystifying Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) [T2]

In this interactive session, five experienced panelists - including an architect, engineer, contractor, fabricator and lawyer - will provide in-depth analysis of IPD and answer your questions about this unique and revolutionary project delivery method. Moderator-led discussions will cover a range of topics based on the panel's experience working on successful IPD projects. The audience will discover how to get involved with IPD projects, what to expect, what to be aware of, and at the same time learn to differentiate between the IPD philosophy and an actual all-inclusive IPD contracted project. The types of typical contracts will be addressed along with how and where the fabricator, detailer, erector and engineer fit into the overall project team hierarchy. The panel will also discuss how other delivery and contract methods, such as Design-Assist, can be used on the same IPD project and why this can be an advantage to the steel team. Lastly, such questions as whether BIM requires IPD (or does IPD require BIM?), the value the steel team brings to an IPD project, and how lean construction and sustainability fit in, will be addressed. The audience will leave with an acquired knowledge of Integrated Project Delivery and understand how they can contribute to and become involved in these projects.
