Design and Detailing of Structural Steel Seismic Resisting Systems [N4A]

The seismic design provisions of AISC 341 apply to structural steel systems specifically designed for seismic performance. The design and detailing requirements within this standard are meant to ensure an appropriate level of ductility exists within the designated seismic force resisting system. An overview of AISC seismic design procedures and detailing requirements for several structural steel systems will be presented in this session, emphasizing the background and technical basis for the requirements. The session will also address design considerations when the R=3 design option is available.
