Effective BRBF Design Under 2010 AISC Seismic Provisions (AISC 341-10) [N28]

The AISC 341-10 provisions for BRBF design contain subtle changes that could have significant impact during design. This session will provide an overview of the provisions and the changes will be illustrated using examples from real projects. Updates regarding future potential code changes and/or clarifications to avoid misinterpretation of the current provisions will be provided. In addition, BRB manufacturers will discuss how project designers can most effectively engage manufacturers on BRB projects and will share knowledge gained from their experience with numerous BRB design projects. Discussions regarding frame layout, brace configuration, analysis techniques, etc., will provide valuable ""best practice"" information for consideration by any engineer on their next BRBF design.
