When it comes to structural design of green buildings, the environmental impact of individual framing materials is a common consideration. However, the role of the structural engineer is much more than that of simply a material specifier. Efficiencies in the design process, including the use of BIM, can have a significant impact on the environmental footprint of the framing system.
