Meet the Cast: Cast Steel in Bridges [B21]

We're seeing more and more cast steel used in bridge projects, particularly for cable connections or nodes of bridges constructed using HSS. Join us for an overview of the engineering issues that must be addressed in designing cast steel members for such applications, including fatigue performance of connections, reduction of forces/stresses in welds via relocation of welded joints to regions of lower stress, increased connection stiffness, and more. We'll illustrate these concepts with recently implemented examples.
